5 Ways to Make Your Tahoe Elopement Extra Fun

Whether you’re getting married with an intimate guest list or opting for an as-small-as-possible elopement, finding ways to add a little bit more fun to your big day is a great way to make it even more memorable. While guests (and couples) have come to expect a certain set of wedding day “to-dos”, the truth is that there’s nothing you can’t do. It's your wedding day. From arriving by helicopter to treating your small list of guests to an afternoon of wine tasting, there are plenty of things (both big and small) that will make your day feel even more special. More importantly, you can fill it with your personality.

While large weddings tend to eat up a lot of your budget (and time when it comes to planning), elopements typically have a lot more freedom, making these extra special events and “add-ons” not only within the realm of possibility but truly a good idea. After all, simple elopements shouldn’t feel boring or uneventful!

If you’re choosing to elope or planning a wedding with a very small guest list, consider looking for other special events to make the entire day - not just saying your vows - feel truly special. Because the best, most romantic light always happens at sunrise or sunset, find a photogenic activity to do during this time. This will help photographers capture some incredible shots. Depending on how you want your day to feel, who you want to include in the events, and, of course, what you want to be photographed, here’s a list of five great ideas to make your elopement extra special, especially if you’re in the Tahoe area.

HERE ARE SOME IDEAS THAT WE HAVE ON OUR “WANT TO PHOTOGRAPH - LIST”:

  • Treat Yourself to Breakfast in Bed. A romantic, professionally prepared breakfast in bed for just you and your partner is a special way to start your elopement day. Not only does it remind you to slow down and enjoy, but it gives you the food you need if the rest of your day gets busy!

  • Tour Your Location via Helicopter. A helicopter ride isn’t something most couples do every day. This is exactly why it’s a great idea to make a memory on your elopement day. Whether a helicopter picks you up after your vows or takes you on a tour before, getting to spend an hour in the air with the people you love the most is a great way to make a special memory.

  • Take in a Hot Air Balloon Ride. Even more romantic than a helicopter, hiring a hot air balloon to take you and your partner for a tour of the Tahoe area is something you’ll never forget. If your guest list is small, consider inviting up a few other friends or family members to enjoy the moment with you.

  • Enjoy a Wine Tasting. Spending an afternoon by the lake enjoying a private wine tasting is a lovely way to spend time on your elopement day. It’s also a great opportunity for your small list of guests to get to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

  • Get Out on the Water. If you’re going to be in Tahoe for your elopement, make sure you get out on the water. There are tons of options for you to choose from. Consider kayaking, sailing, or paddleboarding. It all depends on what you and your partner like to do most!
