That’s what Rob and I are planning on doing in August, 2020! A traditional wedding never quite felt like the perfect match for us. We’ve always loved being on mountain tops and wanted to be on the top of a mountain for our own wedding day. We’re currently planning a sunrise ceremony for just us and our best friends with a bigger reception for all our friends and family members to follow that same afternoon/evening.

Eloping is no longer a bad thing. It is actually absolutely beautiful! We photograph several elopements every year and absolutely LOVE the peaceful and intimate setting. There are several reasons why you might want to consider eloping before you get too deep into your wedding planning.

First of all, it’s great for the environment. Weddings are notorious for leaving trash and unnecessary waste behind that may hurt the planet. An average wedding actually produces 400 lbs of garbage and 63 tons of CO2. With an estimated 2.5 million weddings per year, that is about 1 billion lbs of trash and as many emissions as approximately 4 people would produce in a year, in just one single day.  By choosing to have a (much) smaller ceremony and simpler reception, you cut back on all sorts of expenses!  #Elopefortheplanet

Elopements can also help you avoid family drama. Weddings and elopements should be about you and your love towards each other – nothing else. It’s meant to be a celebration and if family members or someone is going to add stress to your day, you might want to consider the simple fact of NOT inviting them.

And, finally, eloping is all in all WAY LESS expensive. If you don’t have to feed, host and entertain 100+ people, you can take that money and put it towards something that matters to you – like an incredible vacation/honeymoon or your first home together.

Whatever you choose, we are happy to document it turning your moments into memories for a lifetime. Let us know if you want more help or information about eloping.
