As wedding photographers, we always love hearing our couple’s stories. Taylor and Kellen met in 2019, and despite working at the same company, they actually met through Bumble. They’re big on the outdoors, and they share a love of country music, a good farmer’s market, and morning coffee walks in their town of San Francisco. They knew they were each other’s people early on, and they got engaged two years after they met while hiking. They enjoyed the gorgeous sunset and then started planning their mountain wedding at The Sugar Bowl Resort!
Emotional Wedding Day Moments
When it came to their wedding day, the most important thing to Taylor and Kellen was having their people all in one place. They wanted a number of small, intimate moments before walking down the aisle, so they could create an emotional, unforgettable day. This couple wanted to involve their loved ones as much as possible, and they enjoyed brainstorming with everyone. Kellen’s friend even sourced the wine and created a custom wine label for them. Ultimately, Taylor and Kellan wanted to create a unique event that involved the most important people in their lives while still adding aspects that made it theirs.
Personally, we loved facilitating and capturing all the gift exchanges and first looks. Taylor had a first look with her father, and it was such a sweet moment. Then, Taylor and Kellan had a first touch before taking in their first look, and it was an emotionally charged moment, full of happiness. Beyond that, the speeches were the most significant thing to them.
Fall Wedding at Sugar Bowl Resort
Taylor was clear from the beginning that she wanted to get married in the mountains, and the Sugar Bowl Resort had the added bonuses of being beautiful and allowing all of their people to stay on site. This was our first time working at Sugar Bowl Resort, but it definitely won’t be the last. This venue is right up our alley with its sweeping, gorgeous views.
There were several great details at this mountain wedding. Taylor and Kellan went with a fall theme with dark, dramatic accents. Their table numbers were so fun as they were images of the couple at that age. On top of everything, they had an absolutely amazing band who made an incredible addition to their wedding. They had everyone dancing all night long. We even ended up staying beyond our coverage time because Kellan went on stage to play with the band. It was highly worth it because we got some amazing photos of Kellan playing.
Sunset Portraits in the Mountains
The sunset portraits pretty much ruined our clothes. We walked through the field as the couple stayed on the path, so we got covered in plant fuzz. Despite all the de-linting later, this was incredibly worth it. Sunset photos are always our favorite, and Taylor and Kellen’s came out gorgeous.
We had a super fun time at Taylor and Kellan’s wedding! From the beautiful venue to the amazing wedding planner to the rocking band, it was the perfect time. We can’t wait to go back to the Sugar Bowl Resort.
We love working with unique couples with a clear vision for their wedding day. If you’re looking to have an adventure on your wedding day, reach out to us! We can’t wait to hear all about it.
