Gemma and Chris’s Lake Tahoe Engagement Photo Shoot at Cave Rock

When you take a look at Chris and Gemma’s engagement session you can already tell a bit about them as a couple. They like adventure, they enjoy a good time and they are very much in love.

The two are planning a Lake Tahoe wedding in the late winter of 2021. They did this engagement session while visiting the area to scope out venues and make plans. It’s such a great opportunity for us all to meet as well and get to know each other.

Let’s dig a little deeper to find out more about their story.

Gemma and Chris met in college when one of Gemma’s best friends married one of Chris’s best friends. Chris was living in Charleston, North Carolina and Gemma were attending Penn State but Chris would make the 11-hour drive to visit her on a regular basis. You all know how much we love our fellow long-distance couples!

After five months of dating, Chris decided to make the move to Pennsylvania. At that point, they knew they were meant to be. They got engaged in August of 2019.

Gemma explained to us why Lake Tahoe is such a meaningful place for them. “Chris would frequently adventure up to Lake Tahoe when he lived in San Francisco. It is his favorite place, and we traveled there together two years ago. We had the most magical, amazing winter vacation of our lives – we are big snowboarders! We knew from that moment that we would eventually have a winter wedding in Lake Tahoe.”

Gemma and Chris visited Lake Tahoe in early 2020 to scope out venues for their wedding. They decided to do an engagement session while they were there. Why not, right?

For the shoot, Gemma and Chris went casual. She wore a black turtleneck, blue jeans, and knee-high boots. He wore a dark red jersey with jeans and sneakers. These were perfect outfits for capturing the adventurous spirit of the shoot. They were also very practical. Gemma and Chris needed clothing they could move around in that would keep them warm during the late winter Lake Tahoe season. Their choice of attire was ideal for comfort and practicality but it also provided a neat and sophisticated appearance that was perfect for the shoot.

Lake Tahoe is famous for its lakefronts and its mountains. Chris and Gemma took advantage of all its topography during their session.

One thing that stood out to us was Gemma’s gorgeous ring. The ring itself is a round cut diamond. The fact that it has no surrounding gems draws attention to the simplicity of the gem. However, the small diamonds in the band provide just the right amount of flash.

As the sun was beginning to set, we all walked back down to the lake. When we got to the lake, they climbed up on some rocks providing the perfect elevation for capturing the scenic view. They celebrated their love by opening a bottle of champagne. We then sat down on the rocks to watch the sunset.

We can’t wait to hang out with them again and to photograph their wedding next year.
