An All-American Couple’s Wedding on the 19th Hole

Having fallen for each other over their shared love for whiskey, sports, and adventuring outdoors, we knew that Kim and Ben’s wedding was going to be right up our alley. Not only are the two ridiculously fun to be around, but their choice of venue ensured that the day was going to be relaxed and enjoyable for everyone. One of the things we love most about PJ’s in Tahoe is that it provides a charming rustic backdrop – something totally ideal for a down-to-earth, laid-back couple like Kim and Ben.

Watching both Kim and Ben get ready (and seeing Kim’s stunning dress for the very first time), we knew we were going to capture some great shots – when everyone’s relaxed and having fun, the photos are always so much more natural. Rather than doing a traditional first look, where the couple sees each other before the ceremony, Kim and Ben chose to do a first look with their parents, which made for some really sweet moments that we were lucky enough to capture on film.

The ceremony, which took place outside under the shade of Tahoe’s famous evergreens and with the mountains in the distance, was sweet and simple, giving us plenty of time to get great portraits of everyone after. The reception, which stayed true to the couple’s personality by retaining its laid-back charm, offered everyone a chance to get together to celebrate, whether over a glass of wine or challenging each other to a game of giant Jenga. Thoughtful details, like signature (whiskey, of course) cocktails, personalized corn hole sets, and easy-to-enjoy desserts, made everything come together naturally – just like Kim and Ben.
