When some people talk about getting eloped, they really mean they’re going to have a very small wedding, inviting their closest friends and family. So, when Gary and Shanon reached out to us about their elopement, we were (wonderfully) surprised that it really was going to be an elopement – just the two of them! Coming from Florida, they really didn’t know the Lake Tahoe area very well (except that it was going to be gorgeous!) So, because we are so familiar with all of the ins and outs of Tahoe, we helped the two plan almost every detail of their day to make sure everything turned out just right.
And, honestly, it really did!
While some elopements feel very casual, Gary and Shanon opted for something much more formal, which made for some seriously stunning photographs. Shanon’s dress, which was a gorgeous floor-length white dress with a floral lace overlay, set the tone for the photographs. Because it was just the two of them, every shot felt romantic and intimate, allowing us to get really creative with the details.
Getting to spend time with the two post-ceremony, we ventured into the forest around Lake Tahoe to use the natural scenery as an unforgettable backdrop to their perfect day. While we love so many of the portraits we took of Gary and Shanon, some of the most dramatic and beautiful were those we shot overlooking the lake as the sun just began to set.
