When we heard that Ashley and Joe were interested in having us capture their laid-back wedding, which would include a reception at the Basecamp Hotel in Tahoe with “beers, brats, and music,” we knew we couldn’t say no.
Ashley and Joe are one of the sweetest, most relaxed couples we’ve photographed all season. Having been together nine years before deciding to tie the knot, they were completely at ease with each other and their guests. After enjoying a brief but lovely ceremony at the Lakeside Beach, the couple planned to have the wedding party move to the beer garden at Basecamp Hotel (and who would argue with that!?)
As a surprise to many of the guests, the couples made their way from location to location on a horse-drawn carriage, complete with a handmade Just Married sign on back. The setting for their portraits at Lakeside Beach was dreamy, making the perfect backdrop for this earthy couple we came to love so much.
The setting for the reception was equally down-to-earth, complete with a vintage airstream stage for the live band and potted succulents on each table. With the perfect type of festival vibe to set the mood for a real celebration, there wasn’t a thing about Ashley and Joe’s day that we would dare change.
