Katelynn and Jared were one of our very first engagement sessions – ever. So, having the privilege to photograph their big day was sentimental for us. Not only is the couple sweet, but they’ve been in love forever, which helped to make everything about their wedding just like their relationship – easy, enjoyable and real.
Although the smoke blocked the usual view of the mountains, it actually provided us with beautiful lighting, acting like a filter for that harsh summer sun. We met the couple early in the afternoon to take pictures of them getting ready – the guys at a vacation rental about a mile away from Zephyr Cove’s venue and the gals at Zephyr Cove. Two of the sweetest moments were watching the guys try to figure out how to properly tie ties and put on cufflinks and Olivia, Katelynn and Jared’s two-year-old daughter, seeing her mom in her wedding dress for the first time.
A laid back day filled with amazing people, guests enjoyed dipping their feet in the water, playing lawn games (like giant Jenga and Corn Hole), and watching the kids take over the dance floor. The father-daughter dance was moving for everyone (not a dry eye in the house!), but the overall mood was FUN! Details like miniature cupcakes, the post-ceremony cocktail hour, and an opportunity to make s’mores allowed guests and family to interact easily.
How can you go wrong with a day surrounded by great people in a beautiful setting – and with seriously perfect light?
