If it makes you happy, do it. That was the theme of Stephanie and Adam’s big day. As skiers ourselves, we were thrilled when we heard that they had chosen Copper Mountain Ski Resort in Colorado as playground for their wedding day. Although it was April, there was still plenty of snow on the ground and even some flakes in the air. In fact, a giant storm blew in the next day!
Super outdoorsy and fun, Stephanie and Adam are easy-going and low-key, which makes our job photographing them so much easier. We met the couple for the engagement session we did in Wyoming, and instantly knew they would be “our” type, the non-traditional, adventurous type that don’t always play by the rules. (We think Stephanie and Adam should be every couple’s role model for how to plan a wedding.)
From the subdued shades chosen for the bridal party’s dresses to the gorgeous greenery and draped material, every detail in the couple’s day reflected the natural beauty around us. But, it was the personal details, like the matching mountain pajamas the girls wore and Stephanie’s gorgeous fur coat, that really made the moments we captured special. With many of the guests hitting the slopes before the reception, the rest of the day’s tone was set.
Although it was a long twelve-hour day for us, not a moment felt difficult – not even following the couple as they skied down the mountain after they said “I Do” – and in their formal attire nonetheless! This may have been the first official wedding we have ever photographed but it will forever be one of the most fun and memorable! The epic dance party that took place towards the end of the night is surely something we’ll never forget. Happy One Year Anniversary to Stephanie and Adam – you guys rock!
